Earlier this school year, Miss Kelly's 4K class learned that Math can be tasty! Before eating their Goldfish crackers, they used their Bridges Snack Mat to sort them out by color!

Congratulations to our Fox Paw winners from OES for the week ending on Wednesday, October 8. With the short week, only one school had Fox Paw winners.
Thanks for exemplifying the Fox Four of being safe, responsible, respectful, and positive!

Winnebago County Health will be having a FREE flu vaccine clinic on October 19 from 3:30-5:30 pm at Omro Elementary School. Students in grades 4K-12 are welcome; however, students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

October 16 through October 20 of 2023 is National School Bus Safety Week. The School District of Omro is grateful for all of the bus drivers and personnel that transport our students safely.
According to trafficsafetymarketing.gov, "School buses are the safest way for children to get to school. Their design is meant to be safer than any passenger vehicle in avoiding crashes and preventing injuries. Teaching children to follow safety rules on the bus is just as important as informing drivers about the laws regarding school buses."
Each school year, students are reminded of how to safely ride the school bus, as we all play a part in the safe transportation of our students.

OHS Student of the Month for October is Julia.
Throughout high school, Julia has been a part of Cross Country, Basketball, Track, Key Club, National Honor Society, Sources of Strength, Battle of Books, and Blaze (an AAU team).
Along with her above activities, she enjoys baking (mainly cakes/cupcakes) and doing her friends’ nails. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, laying in the sun, or sitting cozied up with a new book.
After graduation, Julia plans to attend college, major in psychology and play basketball.

This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Ms. Miranda Schmidt. She is a grade two teacher and is in her second year teaching here in Omro.
Miranda likes to go hiking, play volleyball, and paint/draw.
When asked what her favorite thing about working for the School District of Omro is, she replied, “Everyone acts like a family here. I come from a small town, so it's nice to see the same tight knit community here as well.”
Thank you, Ms. Schmidt, for all you do for our students!

Picture Retake Day is October 19, 2023, for all School District of Omro schools.
Students who have not been photographed this year should be prepared to have a picture taken. All students must be photographed.
If you would like retakes, please return the original package in its entirety to the photographer on retake day.
If you would like to order pictures for the first time, order forms are being shared in the school newsletters.

Second grade students in Mrs. Babcock's social studies class learned about neighborhoods and communities in their first unit. The students made houses labeled with their addresses and put them on the map of Omro. They noticed some students were in town, others in the country, and many represented communities nearby. Including Mrs. Babcock, six different communities were represented in their class. Wow!
