Fab Lab Receives $7,000 grant from Alliant Energy Foundation The School District of Omro received a $7,000 grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation to support their STEAM Fab Lab initiatives. This grant will help continue supporting their High School Fab Lab and their K-5 outreach. “The focus of these funds will expand the robotics capabilities of our Elementary students and add additional tools to the High School Fab Lab,” said Rob Turner, Fab Lab Director. “It will teach students the basics of coding starting in Kindergarten and how AI can be integrated into robotics and other automated processes at the 9-12 grade levels. This is a great opportunity for our new STEAM integrator in the Elementary, Kyle Schulz, to expand the learning process to our K-5 students and align them with what we are working on in the High School.” The Alliant Energy Foundation is committed to making a positive difference in the communities where Alliant Energy employees, retirees and customers live and work. The Foundation, which is funded solely by Alliant Energy shareowners, seeks to further the corporation’s goal of being a good corporate citizen and contributing member of society. Since 1998, the Foundation has contributed more than $62 million to innovative projects and local nonprofits. For more information, visit alliantenergy.com/foundation. If you have a background in AI or coding and would like to learn more about what we are offering here in our district please contact rturn@omrok12.wi.us. We are always looking for new student involvement and donations of time and resources from experts. #FoxPride #PoweringBeyond

CAPP Speech students from Mrs. Miller's UWO speech course created unique products in class while working on small group communication. Together, each group had to create a product, name it, explain how it worked, and sell it to the rest of the class. Students found many random items in a box that they needed to use to create something that members of the class could use. Such creativity and fun!

The sophomore class was busy creating "Me Posters" in Mrs. Miller's English 10 class. Students were to cut out pictures, words, and symbols of things they like and dislike. Once the entire poster was covered, students created a speech to present to the entire class. Students are pictured here with their poster.

Omro Elementary School hosted an all school assembly on Friday, April 11, 2025, to help students get excited to "Rock the Test" the following week. Every year, students across Wisconsin engage in standardized testing, whether it is the Wisconsin Forward, the Pre-ACT Secure, or the ACT. In Omro, staff thoughtfully and intentionally plan the testing process to put students in a position of success. Details include reviewing various testing tools, considering time of day and testing locations, smooth experiences using technology, and ensuring our students know how much we believe in them as individuals and learners. For the 2025 school year, Omro Elementary added an additional layer to their test preparation by planning "Rock the Test" activities leading up to the assessment as well as an assembly the Friday before their testing sessions began. During the assembly, the high school pep band and dance team performances "boosted" the energy, connecting our older students to our younger ones. There were staff members that dressed up in costumes and an appearance by Freddy the Fox. In addition, Grade 2 students, who do not participate in the WI Forward assessment, made signs to show their support for students in grades 3 through 5. The District recognizes that test preparation is ongoing and happens throughout every learning experience during the school year; the best preparation is done through high quality instruction and learning. These "Rock the Test" additions are just that; additions to support student success, whether it is having a "pet rock" that students painted on their desk, notes of encouragement from family members to students, or an assembly, our students know we believe in them. #FoxPride #RockTheTest

Did you know that there are over 100 ways to prepare an egg? Students in Mrs. Morse's Food for Life class are talking about the importance of the nutrient, Proteins, in our diets. They had the opportunity to prepare eggs in their favorite way in the food lab and students were happy with their results.

"Route 09" Diner-- 1950's theme mock restaurant-- was open for business on Thursday, April 10. This event served as a capstone project for the class and provided the students with a "real life" type of experience of working in the Restaurant and Food Service Industry. Students in Mrs. Morse's Advanced Culinary Arts class applied for their roles and created this restaurant from the ground up. The Front of the House Staff-- Manager Bella, Hostess Maya, Waiterstaff Shayli, Jaxson, and Nic- decorated the dining room, set the tables, and served the customers. The Back of the House Staff-- Head Chef Ronnie and Assistant Chefs Haley, Jacob, and Logan chose the menu and prepared the food. The class served over 70 guests for lunch and dinner. The menu consisted of: Breakfast Burger w/Fries, Club Sandwich w/Chips, Pancake Platter, Apple Pie Ala Mode, Cheesecake, and Milkshakes. It was a memorable and enjoyable dining experience for our students, staff, and community. Thank you to all who came to dine and supported this class project.-- Mrs. Cindy Morse

Last month, we had over 700 attendees visit Omro Elementary School to attend the 10th Annual Omro Family Literacy Night. The event featured a wide range of activities that captivated Omro youth and their families. Highlights included a Scholastic Book Fair and a lively puppet show th at brought beloved stories to life in a fun and interactive way. Other attractions included face painting, fishing games, and more, offering something for everyone to enjoy. Omro Family Literacy Night is a collaboartive effort that is led by the 4 person planning team of Nikki Paulus, Jenn Marks, Amy Gee, and Alesha Neitzke. The night could not be a success without the volunteer work of the many staff members, from all buildings, and high school students that support the activities. Thank you to all for their hard work and volunteer time to help bring the "Under the Sea" vision to life!
