Students in Mrs. Morse's Food for Life class participated in a Burger Contest as part of their nutrient unit on Proteins. Students worked cooperatively to create a recipe, prepare it, construct a poster, and present their new idea to a group of judges. The "Messed Up Burger" earned top honors created by Tucker, Julee, Nick, and with the help of Mrs. C. Their recipe was a well-seasoned patty, topped with bacon, lettuce, relish, and mayo/Thousand Island dressing on a toasted bun. Congratulations to all!

Students in Mrs. Morse's 7th Grade Family and Consumer Sciences class have recently begun their mini unit on Child Development. As part of learning about Infants and how to care for them, students had the opportunity to take care of "Baby Macy"-- an Infant Simulator. When the baby cried, the students had to come care for her and figure out why she was crying.

Wednesday, May 8th Omro Middle School and High School Students participated in National Bike to School Day. There were snacks and chances to win prizes for all who walked or biked to school that day. At the end of the day, students were encouraged to stop by the Omro Community Bike Shoppe where the fun continued. Students rode their bikes and completed a scavenger hunt on the school grounds. When they were done, students blended up some tasty lemonade slushies with our human-powered bike blender. To finish off the afternoon, students participated in a turtle bike race (the slowest person won) and more prizes were handed out. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event and our friends at Eastern Wisconsin Safe Routes to School!

At the end of February, Liam, Kayannah, and Sadie represented Omro High School in the Final State Test for Battle of the Books. They placed 18th out of 61 teams in the state! To celebrate their hard work this season, they were joined by our Book Club Seniors for a day of celebration and love of literacy. On the field trip they visited a Little Free Library in Omro to restock with books. After sharing some new stories with residents in Omro they went to Barnes and Noble where they picked out new books for our school library. They finished off the day with lunch and a movie. Great job this Battle of the Books Season Liam, Kayannah and Sadie and best wishes to our Book Club Seniors!
