Earlier this month, second grade students in Mrs. Babcock's class were working on Unit 2 in Bridges math, which concentrates on place value to the hundreds and measurement. For the first lesson the students had to estimate how many beans are in a bag, then they decided to count groups of tens, then grouped tens into hundreds, with ones left over. Results are in the picture(s).

October 16 through October 20 of 2023 is National School Bus Safety Week. The School District of Omro is grateful for all of the bus drivers and personnel that transport our students safely. According to trafficsafetymarketing.gov, "School buses are the safest way for children to get to school. Their design is meant to be safer than any passenger vehicle in avoiding crashes and preventing injuries. Teaching children to follow safety rules on the bus is just as important as informing drivers about the laws regarding school buses." Each school year, students are reminded of how to safely ride the school bus, as we all play a part in the safe transportation of our students.

This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Ms. Miranda Schmidt. She is a grade two teacher and is in her second year teaching here in Omro. Miranda likes to go hiking, play volleyball, and paint/draw. When asked what her favorite thing about working for the School District of Omro is, she replied, “Everyone acts like a family here. I come from a small town, so it's nice to see the same tight knit community here as well.” Thank you, Ms. Schmidt, for all you do for our students!
