Congratulations to our Fox Paw winners from H.B. Patch, OES, and OMS for the week ending on October 27, 2023. Thanks for exemplifying the Fox Four of being safe, responsible, respectful, and positive!

Omro Middle School recognized Bully Prevention Month in October. We had great participation from students as staff as we all wore blue on Oct. 18th to stand together against bullying. The whole school also took part in creating a "No Place For Hate" mural that is hanging in the commons for all to see (shout-out to Allyson, Addison and Lucy for their talented artwork). In addition, we had Peer Leaders and Officer Peeters teach/review the SUSO (Speak Up Speak Out) reporting tool and Peer Leaders do a lunch check-in with 6th graders to help ensure everyone is making connections.

This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Mr. Adam Nelson. He is a physical education teacher, supporting adaptive PE and elementary PE in grades 2-5. Adam is in his first year here in Omro, but sixth year in education.
Adam likes to spend time with friends and family, along with going hunting, camping, and golfing.
When asked what his favorite thing about working for the School District of Omro is, he replied, “It's home. I went to school here as a kid and now being back as a teacher is surreal.”
Thank you, Mr. Nelson, for all you do for our students!

On Wednesday, October 11, the 8th graders took a walk around town learning more about the history of Omro.

Earlier this month, second grade students in Mrs. Babcock's class were working on Unit 2 in Bridges math, which concentrates on place value to the hundreds and measurement. For the first lesson the students had to estimate how many beans are in a bag, then they decided to count groups of tens, then grouped tens into hundreds, with ones left over. Results are in the picture(s).

October 16 through October 20 of 2023 is National School Bus Safety Week. The School District of Omro is grateful for all of the bus drivers and personnel that transport our students safely.
According to trafficsafetymarketing.gov, "School buses are the safest way for children to get to school. Their design is meant to be safer than any passenger vehicle in avoiding crashes and preventing injuries. Teaching children to follow safety rules on the bus is just as important as informing drivers about the laws regarding school buses."
Each school year, students are reminded of how to safely ride the school bus, as we all play a part in the safe transportation of our students.
