Omro High School Sources of Strength hosted a "Student Appreciation" Fox Time event in which staff and students participated in a variety of healthy activities around the school grounds. Groups played games like soccer, kickball, and sharks and minnows. Others took relaxing walks on the fitness trail or read books outside. Some got playful with bubbles and did sidewalk art. It was a fun way to celebrate the year together.

Ms. Downs' 3rd grade class became published authors last week!
The students wrote paragraphs about their heroes- someone who has had a positive influence on their life and exhibits heroic qualities. Students wrote about their parents, teachers, coaches, etc. Students also created their own illustrations to go with their paragraphs. The students then took their paragraphs through the writing process, making sure it was ready for the final step- publishing!
The published book, "Our Book of Heroes", has arrived and now they have their own piece of published writing to keep forever! Ms. Downs is very proud of their dedication and hard work.

Omro 6th graders completed a Cemetery Unit. Students were involved in sessions that centered around the origin of Memorial Day, learning the timeline of American wars, learning about funerals and honoring the deceased, and looking at the lichen that grows out at a cemetery. Students spent the afternoon going to the Omro Cemetery and placing flags on all the veteran's graves.

Her Starry Night painting turned out beautiful, and she did a great job getting so much color into her sky and tree. Aviana's artwork this year has shown so much creativity. She always takes the time to do her neatest work.

There is much excitement on the OES playground with a killdeer pair nesting on our playground! The students are delighted everyday to see the birds guarding their four speckled eggs. The mom and dad take turns sitting on the eggs and keeping a watchful eye amidst the playing children. Everyone at OES has been respectful and responsible to give this pair their space and observe the progress. Another reminder of what makes Omro a wonderful place to be!
