At the beginning of May, our Middle School Battle of the Books team went on a field trip to celebrate their hard work this season. Macy, Lydia, and Hailey represented Omro Middle School in the Final State Test for Battle of the Books where they competed against 165 other teams in Wisconsin.
On their field trip, they visited H.B. Patch Elementary where they read to Ms. Martin and Ms. Bahr’s classrooms. After visiting HB Patch they went to a movie, lunch and ended their day at Barnes and Noble where they picked out new books for our school library. Great job this Battle of the Books Season team!
For students interested in competing next school year in Battle of the Books, keep a lookout for the book list which will be released on June 1st. You can also visit WEMTA's website for more information: https://sites.google.com/wemta.org/battle/home?pli=1

This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Mrs. Wendy Fisher. She is the OMS/OHS Band teacher. Wendy is currently in her thirty-first year in education and twenty-fifth year here in Omro.
Outside of school, she enjoys bowling, playing cards, and watching ID or HGTV channels.
When asked about her favorite part of working for the School District of Omro, Wendy said, “I love watching my students grow as people and musicians, and getting to know them and their families over the 7 years that I have them in band.”
Thank you, Mrs. Fisher, for all you do for our students!

Students worked in partnerships to design a cake according to their client's request. "Clients" ranged from a cake for a 5 year old's birthday who likes animals and outdoors, a cake to celebrate Father's Day and a graduation cake. Guess which cake won?
Congrats to Nate and Lucas-- Dinosaur Cake!

On a recent Friday, a few students in Mrs. Steier's second grade class bult "Hula Huts" in Physical Education class. They loved the opportunity to create using materials in innovative ways!

Did you know that May 18 is National Speech and Language Pathologist Day? Today, and everyday, we want to recognize our awesome speech and language pathologists! Thank you for the positive impact you have on our students and learning community!

Students in Mrs. Morse's Food for Life class participated in a Burger Contest as part of their nutrient unit on Proteins. Students worked cooperatively to create a recipe, prepare it, construct a poster, and present their new idea to a group of judges. The "Messed Up Burger" earned top honors created by Tucker, Julee, Nick, and with the help of Mrs. C. Their recipe was a well-seasoned patty, topped with bacon, lettuce, relish, and mayo/Thousand Island dressing on a toasted bun. Congratulations to all!

Students in Mrs. Morse's 7th Grade Family and Consumer Sciences class have recently begun their mini unit on Child Development. As part of learning about Infants and how to care for them, students had the opportunity to take care of "Baby Macy"-- an Infant Simulator. When the baby cried, the students had to come care for her and figure out why she was crying.

The Sources of Strength Peer Leaders gathered to celebrate the end of another successful year by enjoying a spread of treats catered by the Adult Advisors. Wednesday, May 8th Omro Middle School and High School Students participated in National Bike to School Day. There were snacks and chances to win prizes for all who walked or biked to school that day. At the end of the day, students were encouraged to stop by the Omro Community Bike Shoppe where the fun continued. Students rode their bikes and completed a scavenger hunt on the school grounds. When they were done, students blended up some tasty lemonade slushies with our human-powered bike blender. To finish off the afternoon, students participated in a turtle bike race (the slowest person won) and more prizes were handed out.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this event and our friends at Eastern Wisconsin Safe Routes to School!
