Students in Mrs. Morse's Food, Family & Society and Culinary Arts classes volunteered to help assist the Omro Area Community Center in baking cookies for their Breakfast with Santa event held on November 25. The classes prepared the dough, cut out, and baked over 14 dozen cookies for this annual event.

On November 15, members of the Spanish Club went to a Yolotl Hearts workshop at the Latino Arts Community Center in Milwaukee. They learned about the history of the hearts, starting with the original painting by Pompeo Batoni in 1767, then brought to the new world by Catholic Missionaries. Nowadays, the hearts, commonly called Milagros, or Miracles, are often symbolic of something a person is thankful for or worried about. They are just as commonly used simply as a decoration. Students had the opportunity to paint their own hearts, and they did an outstanding job! Their creativity and artistic ability impressed Jessica, our teacher for the day.

She is an English/Language Arts teacher at Omro Middle School. Kendra is in her tenth year here in Omro, and eleventh year in education.
Kendra enjoys as much time as possible with her family, along with reading and camping.
When asked about a favorite motivational saying, she shared a quote by Mae West, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
Thank you, Mrs. Krier, for all you do for our students!

Kindergarten has been learning about voting, candidates, ballots and polls. We read the book, My Teacher For President by Kay Winters and had a mock campaign where Mrs. Mathe, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Prickett ran for president. It was quite the race! Mrs. Martin campaigned for ice cream everyday, Mrs. Mathe campaigned to save the school money and have students do all the cleaning, Mrs. Henry campaigned to have recess all afternoon, and Mrs. Prickett campaigned to have homework every night . When the votes were counted the winner was Mrs. Martin! Enjoy some pictures of our lessons!
Students in the World of Children class recently participated in Infant Care Stations. They had the chance to hold an infant, practice reading a book, diaper/dress an infant, and practice their use of gross and fine motor skills.

In Mrs. Babcock's second grade Social Studies class, students are learning about Native American life. The students were able to explore her collection of artifacts and figure out how it was used in their everyday life. They also made their own Native American story belts and practiced writing stories with Native American pictographs.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
