Our 2024 Battle of the Books Teams from OES, OMS, and OHS represented the Omro School District in the Final State Test the last week of February. Results will be released the first week of March of how they placed among other schools throughout the state of Wisconsin. Great job teams!
Battle of the Books is a fun academic club that focuses on reading new or classic books and testing students' knowledge of what they read. The new list of 20 selected books is released in early June so students have a chance to read over the summer to prepare before the school year begins.
Any students in grades 4 - 12 can participate by forming a team of 2-4 members. Teams will battle each other by taking team tests on the books with the top team from each school moving on to represent Omro in the Final State Test. There will be a celebration for all participants in early Spring!

Students in Intro to Psychology had fun playing with Legos and learning about research methods. Each group was tasked with building something out of Legos and writing down the directions or drawing a picture. Groups then had to switch Legos and try to rebuild them using the directions. The learning was that if the directions (operational definitions in research and experiments) are not clear and detailed, it is very difficult to replicate.

OHS is hosting a Blood Drive on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Our doors are open to the community to be a part of the Blood Drive; please just make an appointment by visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-733-2767.

Last month, Book Club members received their long awaited book journals! Huge thank you to Sadie and Mrs. Gee for designing and creating a few different options. Members chose a design and with our club fundraising this school year, all costs were covered!

Winter Walk to School Month: Week 4 - Build a Snow Sculpture
Hmmm... that might be tricky this week. With temperatures being higher than normal and the lack of snow, the Week 4 challenge might look a little different.
Instead of building something out of snow, get outside for an "out of the ordinary for winter" activity. Play a round of frisbee golf, ride your bike, fly a kite, draw on your driveway with chalk, etc.
Prizes will be given out on Monday, March 4th. Students can watch their email to submit participation.
Did you know that cooler temperatures help you sleep better? Winter walking results in a more restful night's sleep.

A group of students traveled to Oshkosh on February 7, 2024, to participate in the Oshkosh Noon Optimist Club's essay and speech contests.
Essay contest winners were: Nona (3rd place) and Marisa (2nd place). These ladies' essays on optimism demonstrated their talent for writing and their passion for the topic.
Speech participants were: Achilles, Haley, Jaylin, and taking third place was Logan. These students wrote a four to five minute speech on optimism providing great examples of how to be optimistic.
Congratulations goes out to all six of our Omro students for their hard work in either writing an essay or writing a speech!
