Sheri Egan, an aide at H.B. Patch, and her family recently hosted the kindergarten students at Egan Family Dairy, Inc of Omro.
This field trip was used as a fabulous ending for the students' Plants and Animals science unit. During this trip they learned about the importance of caring for the cows, the milking process, and the 14 types of products that can be made from cow's milk and all about the different equipment used on a farm. Students got to try one of those products out as they made their own butter by shaking up small jars of cream and then eating it on a cracker!
Everyone got to see the stages of a calf's life and how they move from barn to barn based on their age. The newborn staging area was definitely a favorite as the students were able to give the calves warm bottles of water.
At the conclusion of the trip the Egan's gifted all the students with some fun items including cow hats, a story book about dairy farms, a pencil and ice cream cups.
Thank you so much to the entire Egan family!

National School Psychologist Week
During the week of November 6-10, school psychologists across the nation are being recognized for their dedication to students, schools, and districts. Here in Omro, we would like to recognize Mrs. Jaime Ellison, who supports our entire district.
Thank you for being a valued member of our community!

Students in Mrs. Morse's Culinary Arts class recently spent time in the Foods Lab writing their own recipes for an appetizer. After learning about how to identify the five parts of a recipe and annotating a recipe, they were challenged to write their own. Students had to use what ingredients were available and through trial and error, created an appetizer recipe that will be a part of a class cookbook.

For Halloween this year, teachers at H.B. Patch dressed as characters from Aaron Reynolds' books, "Creepy Carrots", "Creepy Pair of Underwear", and "Creepy Crayons". Throughout the day teachers took turns reading to different classes so the students heard all three books throughout the day. This experience allowed for discussions about similarities and differences between the books and opinions of which book was their favorite and why. It was a great day of learning and fun.

Second grade students had a great time playing Nutrition Bingo with Mr. Manuel during Health class!

Throughout the month of October, middle school and high school students worked together on a Halloween collaborative art project. After all the pieces were colored, an image of a haunted house came together. Great job students!

Last month, students in Mrs. Becker's 7th grade class social studies classes wrote and performed skits about time periods throughout early Europe. They all did a great job!
