Omro High School selects a senior student each month to be the Student of the Month. Seniors are selected for their academic successes, leadership abilities, citizenship, and extracurricular activities. The seniors who are selected for this honor are also invited to attend an American Legion meeting for recognition by the sponsoring organization and may go on the ballot to be a graduation speaker. The March Student of the Month is Delia. Throughout high school, Delia has been involved in Soccer, Sources of Strength, National Honor Society, and Key Club. She can also be found volunteering her time by participating in Highway Clean Up, Shopping Day with Kids, working field days and the Milis Track Meet, as well as making birthday and Christmas cards. Outside of school, Delia enjoys seeing her family, hanging out with friends, and being outside. After graduation, she plans to continue her education at UW-Green Bay, majoring in human biology and planning to then go to medical school.

As an extension of their learning during science instruction throughout the second quarter, grade 5 students created posters for the Wisconsin Rural Water Association’s Water Conservation Poster Contest! This year’s theme “Drip Drop Make It Stop” encouraged students to think about how water is wasted, whether it’s a leak or leaving the water running, what we can do to stop water waste and protect water for future generations. Each class was allotted 3 entries into the contest. Winners will be chosen by attendees at the Wisconsin Rural Water Association’s Annual Technical Conference March 25-28, and will be announced the first week of April. Congratulations to the following students whose posters were selected to be entered into the contest! - JJ, Chuck, Hayden, Deklan, Sofia, Aubrey, Amaya, Harper, Kennedy, Kenton, Annabella, and Ella -

First grade had the opportunity to learn about the process of making natural maple syrup. Mr. and Mrs. Ostertag shared their expertise and craft of maple syrup with our first graders. We were able to see a tree tapped at H.B. Patch. It was truly engaging. The students thoroughly enjoyed tasting the pure maple syrup compared to the store-bought version, solidifying their curiosity about the process.

AP Biology students recently made working models of cell communication pathways and then put their phones to educational use making stop motion animations of their models in action. It was a fun way to learn about complex processes.

PTO: Omro's Parent Teacher Organization strives to support District staff and students in PK - grade 8. Did you know that the PTO gives a total of $20,000 to Early Childhood through grade 5 each year? Lets not forget about the middle school who receives $5,000 each year. A few items these funds have supported include the purchase of 3D printers, PBIS acknowledgements, reducing costs of field trips for all students, new play Kitchen items for 4K, and monthly popcorn. In addition, our PTO actively volunteers; it takes 8 volunteers, monthly, to pop popcorn at OES, Patch, and OMS. It takes 60 volunteers for the Holiday Shop, which OES and Patch experience. There are more volunteer opportunities with various fundraisers and staff appreciation week. Follow us on Facebook or visit our website to find out more information. https://omrosdwi.sites.thrillshare.com/o/oes/page/pto

Health and physical education aren’t just boxes to check—they’re a journey that starts in kindergarten and grows with students all the way through graduation. Whether it’s nutrition, mental wellness, decision-making, strength training, agility, or hands-on CPR training – we’re confident that every base is covered! In the early years, it’s all about having fun—running, jumping, playing games, and learning how to move with confidence. 🛝🏃🏻‍♀️ As students move into middle school and high school, their experience expands beyond just movement. They learn the importance of teamwork 🫱🏻‍🫲🏻, how to set personal fitness goals 🥇, and what it really means to lead a healthy life 🥕. By junior and senior year, students can choose from specialized courses, exploring everything from weightlifting and competitive team sports to activities like archery, frisbee golf, and table tennis. We want to help them find physical activities they actually enjoy—ones they can carry with them beyond high school. 🏋🏻 Prioritizing health isn’t just for class—it’s for life!

The School District of Omro will be conducting a three-year-old developmental screening on Monday, March 10, 2025, at HB Patch Elementary from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children who were born between October 22, 2021 and March 10, 2022 and currently reside within the School District of Omro boundaries. The screening is offered bi-annually to look at the areas of fine and gross motor skills, basic school readiness skills, speech sound production and communication. If a child is found to have significant delays after being further evaluated, programming such as the Early Childhood program or Speech and Language therapy may be recommended. A letter and questionnaire about children’s development were sent to parents of children who are on the district's census list and within the screening age. Staff may request that a parent make an appointment on March 10 for their child based on the results of the questionnaire. Appointments are needed to attend the screening. If you do not receive a letter and ASQ-3 questionnaire for your child by February 3, please contact Jaime Ellison at (920) 303-2317. Alternatively, you can complete the ASQ-3 questionnaire online at https://www.asqonline.com/family/5b4d1d or by scanning the QR code below (you do not need to complete the ASQ:SE-2). Please note that we do not screen children who do not currently reside within the School District of Omro boundaries, even if you intend to apply for open enrollment for your child or move to Omro in the future. Contact your current district of residence to inquire about their screening process.
