Last week, eighth grade students in Mrs. Hughes' Social Studies classes completed stations learning more about slavery and abolition in the years leading up to the Civil War. They read primary sources, looked at images, and viewed videos about Fredrick Douglass and Abolitionism.
This week’s Omro Staff Spotlight features Mr. Brad Clark. He is an OMS Physical Education and OHS Health teacher. It is Brad's first year of teaching here in Omro, although it is his twenty-first year in education.
Brad enjoys exercising, basketball, and yardwork.
When asked about his favorite thing about working for the School District of Omro is, he immediately replied with, “the students.”
Thank you, Mr. Clark, for all you do for our students!

Recently, OMS students in Mrs. Becker's grade 7 Social Studies classes shared "Sights to See in Africa" with one another.

Last week our 6th grade students had the chance to select a free book through the Partners in Literacy Program with Scholastic Books. Students in grades 4K - 6 can select a free book 3 times a year in January, March, and May. Omro School District is happy to promote this program as it gets more books into the hands of our students.
Photos included are of Mrs. Schrimpf's 6th-grade students and their new books. Happy reading everyone!

School Counselor Appreciation Week is February 5-9.
Every day, our school counselors have a positive impact on the students and learning environments they work on. They can be seen working with students one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom settings. Additionally, they support career development at all levels. Thank you Tracy, Carrie, and Rachel; you are appreciated!

February is Winter Walk to School month where walking and outdoor activity is encouraged all month long. Middle and High School Students who participate in Winter Walk to School Month can enter to win PRIZES every week!
Week 1: February 1st - 10th: Give Your Heart a Gift
A great outdoor activity to remember to keep our hearts healthy is an outdoor walk. Get outside this week and go for a stroll. Students can keep track of their walks with the activity log shared this week in their email.
Did you know that walking outside in winter can wake up your immune system? 30-45 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each day can help you fight off those pesky winter colds.

Did you know that Friday, February 2, is National Wear Red Day? One way that you could support the American Heart Association is by wearing red on the 100th anniversary this Friday!
