OHS Biology students investigated the effect of exercise on rates of cellular respiration. They had fun doing vigorous exercise and then measuring the concentration of carbon dioxide in their breath. Students sprinted in the hallway, did jumping jacks, and even danced to get their heart rate up.
On Monday, February 17, many of our staff participated in a professional learning event, located at the Oshkosh Convention Center, and organized by CESA 6. As teachers from across the region entered the event, they were greeted with music played by members of our OHS band and conducted by Wendy Fisher.
The performance was excellent; thank you to Tyler, Connor, Kayannah, Scarlett, Katie, Vinny, Erick, and Abby for getting up early on a day off of school to share your talents.
Omro High School selects a senior student each month to be the Student of the Month. Seniors are selected for their academic successes, leadership abilities, citizenship, and extracurricular activities. The seniors who are selected for this honor are also invited to attend an American Legion meeting for recognition by the sponsoring organization and may go on the ballot to be a graduation speaker.
The February Student of the Month is Keefer.
Throughout high school, Keefer has been involved in Football, Powerlifting, Track, Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow, and National Eagle Scout Association. He can also be found volunteering at middle school track meets, helping with and completing his own Eagle Scout projects, and supporting Powerlifting meets he is not competing in.
Outside of school, Keefer enjoys football, powerlifting, history, Boy Scouts, hunting, fishing, and trapping.
After graduation, he plans to attend UW-Oshkosh and major in Secondary Education with a minor in History, emphasizing Political Science, Psychology, and Geography.

The 10th Annual Family Literacy Night is Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 5:30-7:30. We look forward to welcoming families to OES to experience "Dive Into Reading - Let's Go Under the Sea" activities.

A huge "Congratulations" goes out to the three seniors from CAPP English. They entered the Optimist Essay Contest. Our Omro students were the top three winners!

Students were honored on February 5, 2025, at the Delta Restaurant in Oshkosh where they read their essay to an audience of Oshkosh Noon Optimist club members. Winners also received a cash prize.
On this same day, two sophomores entered the Oshkosh Noon Optimist Club Speaking Contest.

All students were treated with lunch by the local Optimist Club and then traveled to get an ice cream treat by their teacher, Mrs. Miller.

Erick recently competed in the county level of the American Legion Oratorical Contest. He created and presented an 8-10 minute speech on patriotism. Erick took second place. Congratulations, Erick! You represented Omro well!
