RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS

 

The OHS Guidance department works hard to help students with scheduling, career planning, scholarships, college applications, as well as personal and social issues.  Here are some links to valuable information for parents and students associated with the guidance department.

IMPORTANT DATES

Omro High School Graduation:  Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. 

Summer School:  Students who have failed a semester of the core English, Math, and Social Studies classes are encouraged to take summer school.  Summer school is tentatively scheduled to run from June 11-29, 7:45 - 11:45 a.m. M-F.  Students who are eligible will be sent a registration form in early May.

11th graders:  The last ACT of the 2011-12 school year will take place on Saturday, June 9th.  The registration deadline for the test is Friday, May 4 .  To register, go to www.actstudent.org or pick up a packet from the guidance office.

12th graders:  Senior Scholarship Night will take place on Wednesday, May 23 at 6 p.m. in the high school commons.  Students who have been selected to receive a scholarship will be invited to this event in early May.

12th graders:  Graduation practice will take place on Friday, June 1 following the awards ceremony.  Seniors should report to the PAC at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, June 1 and will be free to leave after graduation practice.  
 

12th Graders:  Starting January 1, 2011, students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.  Completing this application is required to qualify for grants, student loans, and work study.

Local Scholarships for Omro High School Seniors

High School Scholarships are available to all Omro seniors who meet the selected scholarship criteria. Criteria and applications can be accessed below. The majority of the scholarships are now using a common application, except for those marked with an *.  Most of the unique applications (*) may be found in the list below (except for the Brent Vroman).  Otherwise, the paper versions for all the unique applications (*) may be picked up in the guidance office.  When completed, a printed version needs to be turned in to the high school guidance office by Friday, March 9, 2012.

 

 

 

Scholarships for Post High School Students

These scholarships are available to graduates from Omro High School or post high school students who reside in the School District of Omro.  Eligible students should complete the common application, making sure to indicate which of the four scholarships that he/she is eligible.  Paper applications are available in the guidance office for pickup.  The completed scholarship application will need to be printed and returned to the high school guidance office by Friday, March 9, 2012. Paper applications are available in the guidance office for pick up.
